----Jianghan University is home to more than 20 individual libraries, each with a world-class collection of books, journals, films, maps and databases.

The floor space of the Jianghan University main library totals 30,800 square meters. Its rich resources include 1.72 million volumes of printed books and more than 3,000 different foreign language periodicals. Also available are 620,000 e-books and 30,000 electronic periodicals in Chinese and foreign languages, as well as more than 20 Chinese and foreign language databases.

The library contains 26 reading rooms with more than 3,000 seats, providing open-shelf services, as well as 54 research compartments and a modern Multifunctional Hall with 210 seats. Recently, the library has developed the automatic, web-based library system, with an express computer web platform of 1,000-odd information links, providing access to campus net, CERNET and INTERNET. It has built a web page with various columns including Book Retrieval, Electronic Resources, Specialized Resources, Discipline Navigation, Reader Guidance, Website Guidance, Introduction to Services, Introduction to the Library, Resources Distribution, Borrowing Regulations, Books Recommendations, Online Consultation, and others. The web page can provide readers with various services quickly and conveniently, such as searching for books, borrowing documents, online renewals, consultation and retrieval, projects assistance and transferring documents, as well as training patrons and other services.

Having joined the China Academic Library and Information System (CALIS), the library is capable of sharing the data and resources of university libraries nationwide. Using the library’s subscription to the National Index to Chinese Newspapers and Periodicals (NICNP), readers are able to retrieve recently edited and published journal, magazine and newspaper articles. Moreover, the library has also set up navigation bases for key disciplines, including Business Administration, Literature and Art, Fine Arts, Mechanical Manufacture and Automation, and Pathology and Pathological Physiology, collecting a great number of websites related to these key disciplines and providing the fastest and newest information services to the teaching and scientific research in order to promote the development of these key disciplines.
