Our University Signed a Cooperation Agreement with Uhamka University of Jakarta Indonesia


Friday 28 of March 2014, Jianghan University, a reputable university with more than 40.000 students, made a visit to Uhamka University of Jakarta Indonesia. Jianghan University introduced the university then signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Uhamka representatives. They lead with Professor Tan Renjie Chancellor of Jianghan University, with Dean of School of Physics & Information Engineering Mr. Rongzheng Zhou and Associate Professor Fang Yong.


UHAMKA which was formerly known as the Muhammadiyah Institute of Teacher Training and Pedagogy (IKIP MJ) was founded since November 18th, 1957. As the strong demand of the period in 1957, IKIP MJ was converted into UHAMKA. The using of Prof. DR. HAMKA as the name of university denotes the big appreciation to the credible ulema, poet, and Islamic intellectual as well as the Muhammadiyah activist. Besides, UHAMKA also expects to be able to breed good characters of nation generations in the future to take his examples.


UHAMKA currently has eight faculties with 34 study programs as well as the post graduate program with six concentrations. UHAMKA is to continue improving both the quality and the quantity of each study program. UHAMKA’s commitment to be a leading university that has competitive power is supported with strategic plan stressing on the three main pillars of education, namely (1) access extension and equality; (2) quality improvement, relevancy and competitiveness; and (3) accountability and image.

Jianghan university places high importance on international academic and cultural exchanges. It has established good cooperative relationships with universities and academic organizations in the United States, France, Japan, Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom, South Korea and recently Uhamka from Indonesia. It aims at extending such relations with more educational institutions in the world.
