----Featuring Chinese characters as creative elements arranged in an expressive, artistic pattern, the new logo illustrates the educational philosophy and culture of Jianghan University.

The logo’s inner graphic consists of two characters: jiang and da. In their literal sense, the two characters form a portmanteau word, jiangda, which is itself an informal contraction of Jianghan Daxue,the formal Chinese name of Jianghan University. In a figurative sense, the central character of the logo, da, resembles a human figure with outstretched arms,which reflects the university’s people-oriented philosophy. Flanking da to theleft and right is the character jiang, which is divided into two distinct parts. Viewed separately, the left-hand structure of jiang bears an abstract resemblance to the phrase shuben, meaning “books,” a symbol of the university’s rich academic and cultural atmosphere; the right-hand structure of jiang corresponds to the character gong, meaning “work,” which is a reference to the university’s emphasis on science and engineering. Taken together, these elements of the new logo reflect Jianghan University’s identity as a comprehensive university,compatible with a liberal arts curriculum and focused on cultivating practice-oriented talent who possess a solid foundation in theory.
